10 Years on the Job

It is hard to believe, but I have been working the same job for 10 years. This is the longest ever that I have worked on a single project or company for that matter.

It is contract work, and the contract has been going on for 10 year as of today, April 30th.

The company that I work for is throwing a party for everyone. It should be a blast given it will be at The Nook, which is a great place for beer.

St. Patrick's Day

Well, Saint Patty's Day is just around the corner. Our baby, Katherine, already has her St. Patrick's Day shirt so she is ready.

My dad's bar, The Nook, has a party on the Saturday before Saint Patrick's Day.

Huntsville Young Professionals are having a party on Saint Patrick's Day at the Huntsville Round House.

Christmas Cards

Karen has out done herself. She cranked through writing and addressing all of our Christmas cards. We wanted to have a photo Christmas card so that we could show everyone our new baby girl.

We had put together our mailing list last week, but Karen decided to dig through pass Christmas cards, “Thanks You” notes, and baby shower gifts to find others that should receive a card. While I has taking care of Katherine and other things, she has been very busy with the cards.

Karen is already planning next years card. I am looking forward to it myself.

Great Birthday Celebration

Brian's BirthdayI turned 41 today.  I had expected a mellow birthday given how busy we have been.  But, it turned into pretty good birthday.
It started with breakfast at Market Street Café.  We strolled from our house with Katherine Elizabeth.  It is about a mile, which make for a nice stroll.  Karen had the Swiss Omelet and I had two eggs, bacon, and biscuit with gravy.  Hmm! What a start for the day.

I ran into work for few hours.  On the way home, I stopped off to get the rest of my birthday dinner at Publix grocery store.  We had already picked up some sushi grade tuna, which we are going to serve as an appetizer.  I was looking for the rest of the meal.  I picked up some fresh green beans, fresh baby carrots, sweet potatoes, and chicken wings.

The chicken wings were to be added to the chicken legs that I had already thawed at home.  The chicken was going to be marinaded in hot sauce and then Dale's sauce, which makes for great chicken.

Some of the tuna will be served sliced with soy sauce and wasabi.  The remaining tuna will be lightly salted and peppered prior to searing it.

The sweet potatoes were baked and served with a pecan orange butter.  The green beans and carrots were steamed then seasoned.

We purchased my birthday cake at The Fresh Market.  We picked out a cake called Mud Cake, which was wonderful.  It was pure chocolate with some flour thrown in the mix.

My parents joined us for the evening.  My dad and I enjoyed Smithwick's ale.

Everyone had a great time, and the gifts were great, too.

11th Anniversary

We kicked back and took a slow ride through our 11th Anniversary.  With Katherine Elizabeth in the family, we stayed home and had a nice dinner and movie.
Guess Who

I picked up the romantic comedy, Guess Who, which stars Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher.  This movie is a good remake on the idea of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner starring Sidney Poitier, Spencer Tracy, and Katherine Hepburn.  Karen and I enjoyed the movie.  I think Karen may have enjoyed the toffee popcorn and chocolate more.

Our 11th Anniversary

It looks like we will be staying home for our 11th anniversary. Karen is concerned about traveling with our new baby girl (born July 2nd). I understand and we will still have fun doing something around home.

Memorial Day

Well, it is time to kick back and fire up the grill all while remembering those who gave us this freedom.

I could drink a Freedom Ale from Tun Tavern, which would seem appropriate. Or, I could drink something from Yuengling, which is the oldest American brewery.

Hamburgers are the correct food for day.

St. Patrick’s Day

I suggest that you collect your friends and head to your favorite Irish Pub for Saint Patrick’s Day.  Raise your glass of Guinness and make a toast your friends who couldn’t make to the pub.

Another Year Gone Past

Ball DropThis year was been filled with lots of excitement and many changes.  This coming year looks to be even more exciting on the home front.

Hopefully, this year will be the year of the new house!  We have been busy getting the house ready with painting and patching.  But, we have much more to do to get it ready.
